Hubby and I are in the process of buying a new home for our family. The last few weeks we've become VERY familiar with the term "month-end". Not as if we hadn't ever heard it before -- but now we're just familiar with how OVER USED it is. It seems this term is becoming more frequently used across multiple professions but most notably with accountants, banker, real estate professionals (agents, appraisers, etc...), title companies and now it seems that many independent contractors seem to have caught on to this "month-end" craziness!
Listen, I get that the banks are swamped with people trying to refinance and that title companies always try to cram in closings towards the end of the month, but there are many things that I don't understand in this process.
1) Why is it SOOO important for you to get this done on the 28th and not on the 2nd? If it's that important to you then get organized, people!
2) Why do I have to rush rush rush around to get you what you need after you've pushed me off for 10 days due to your month-end havoc? If you want my business -- don't make me panic because you need something IMMEDIATELY when I've been waiting on a response from you for 8 days from the last email I sent you.
3) WHY DOES MONTH END START ON THE 20th?!?!? You are literally writing off 1/3 of your life as the chaos and craziness that you call month-end! I couldn't imagine in my world that any client of mine would allow me to use such an excuse and put them off for days on end while I figured out how to balance my work load more effectively.
I think it bares noting that I do hold a real estate license and that I hear this phrase often. Even such, I still can't wrap my brain around why people can't manage to balance their schedules accordingly and stop using this excuse. It DRIVES. ME. CRAZY!
Please don't give me your "month-end" bullshit excuse as a reason you can't be of service to me and my needs. However, if you choose to, when payment is due on one of your invoices and you receive the excuse in return, don't be a hater.
