The first sign of my impending doom was the start of a casual eye roll. Today, we've got an an over-exaggerated stare, finger point and a full blown head roll. Her father and I are informed on quite the regular basis that "I'm the boss", to "be quiet and listen to me" and to "stop it or go to time out". Karma is a bitch when your kid starts to get shit.
What I've learned is that this stage is is a blessing and a curse...let me explain.
It's a blessing because we hear EVERYTHING that happens at school or what other people say. Recently we learned that Alexander AND spit up on the carpet, had a fever and his dad had to come get him. Followed by Laura the next day. This information wasn't shared with us from her teachers so as a parent, you know how frustrating this can be when trying to keep your child healthy. We also learned that Sandy (the teacher) put her (my daughter) in timeout because she spit on Eli. Nice going Kayla.
It is also a blessing because she can actually fully communicate what she is looking for and what she needs. In addition, she fully understands what her father and I are saying now so there's less manipulation going on from her end, or so we think.
How is this a curse? The exact same two reasons described above. School hears EVERYTHING that goes on at home and my child now FULLY gets what's going on and knows how to get what she wants.
Fuck.
